Looking to hunt Nilgai or really anything

I am getting the itch to hunt a Nilgai with a bow. Does any one have a place with them on it or can suggest a place to go. I don't need all the cazy frills that dive the price up. Any suggestions?

That goes for really anything except Axis and chocolate Fallow

I emailed the King to see if they have any openings on their 35,000 acre Bowhunting pasture. Semi guided with stands in place. 3 days $2500.

I've got some bulls on my place in Abilene. Would be a really tough hunt with a bow, but I think it could happen. We killed a 9" bull this past weekend, and a 10 1/4" this summer, but other than that, they haven't been hunted. $3500, meals, lodging, guide, game care and hog hunting. Would love to have a few TBHer's out.

That seems to be about the going rate for a 3 day hunt. I'd really like to find somewhere that can add a day or two on top. 3 days for nilgai just doesn't seem long enough for me with archery tackle. I've guided them for rifle hunters and that's no easy task.

I killed one on March 1st with 3 work associates/customers. We hunted the Norias division which is where the nilgai were first introduced to Texas. Something about the guides and being on the King Ranch and is the only way to go IMO. It was $1,000 kill fee + $750 deposit + you should tip hefty. This was for a one day gun hunt. All bulls over 8" and up at 9.5". We passed up bulls that i would have shot with a bow. All the guides have college degrees and the main guide, Oscar was 5th generation!

PM me for more details if you want. 2 people per guide. We hunted with guns and shot 3 by 11AM. I shot mine last at 2:30 PM. In and out of there for a day. The other guys wanted more excitement so they shot hogs and a cow nilgai in the afternoon. I shot mine at 225 yards and if you weren't set up right it would be hard with a bow. Get on a water hole or fence crossing and you can do it.

The guides there are incredible. Call one and ask if its do-able. I know it wouldn't be easy but will probably change it from a 90% shot ratio to 50%. I'm going to go back with a bow in the next 5 years.

J-J, those are some nice bulls! And your deer in the pic is huge. I always wondered how you keep them around? All the fences had crossings with dumps on either side where the nilgai consistently go under. I figured it would be hard to keep them in cause those fences were tore up but not enough for the cattle to get out.

Hunting them in the snow in Abilene would be nice!!

King runs an 85% success rate on archery.

3 days, $2,500, 85% success rate....on the KING RANCH!? What are y'all waiting for?? Post pics afterwards!

Also, plan on $960 for the mount and $350-$650 for the meat depending on what you get. You gut it on the ranch and Hiblers in Kingsville will pick it up for you at the ranch after you leave...
