    TXDot

For the ones who were effected by the ice this past weekend how do you feel TXDot did? I personally think they failed. Granted I respect the people out all night trying to do what they can but as far as TXDot as a whole they are terrible. They lack equipment and have no clue on how to deal with a little ice. The interstates in Ft Worth still have ice on them and the cobblestone ice on the overpasses is tearing vehicles up and making things horrible to get around even today.

Aweful. I was stuck in it today on the way home . The rolling closers of the highway was a joke . I think you were the one stuck on 20 for many hours. I did not feel that bit still think they did a terrible job

You guys realize there are people that deal with this type of weather 3 months out of the year and have no problem. A little cold snap and a freeze and you would think the sky had fell in on Texas.

It is not TXDOT..it is the drivers and their lack of ability and common sense.

Its just crazy that after Friday we haven't really gotten anymore ice or sleet and still we have ice on the main roads. Even OK does a better job of clearing roads then TX does.

I have worked every night of this mess, and I can say that TXDOT has done a good job with the resources they have. The biggest problem was that in Grayson County they didnt have a "little" ice. Some of the county got over 4" of sleet and freezing rain. The biggest problem I saw was the semi truck not being able to make it up the hills. One would try and make it up a hill and get stuck, so another would try to make it in the other lane, and he in turn would get stuck. They you would have back up for miles until one of the 5 big rig wreckers could make it to them to pull them out, and then the next two trucks would get stuck. Most of the time TXDOT couldnt even try to clear NB Hwy 75 because of the congested traffic caused by the semi trucks.

I agree the drivers are part of the problem but Im not talking about all the cars in the ditch or the traffic jams. Im talking about the actually condition of the roads and how long it has taken them to get interstates cleared and as of 6 pm tonight they weren't cleared.

Im thankful for the workers who were out in this doing the best yall could and I have zero issues with yall. My issue is with the heads of TXDot not giving yall the equipment that is needed to handle this. I know that GC got it real bad and rural areas are always the last to get any type of help but DFW is another thing. It is the largest metorplex in the country and we still have ice and closures on interstates. I have seen rural roads back home in better condition after 24 hours with 3-4 inches of ice and 20 inches of snow.

It kills me how some people still drive like crazy nuts out there. I think this is the worst I have seen parkway in many years. Saw a mustang going about 50 down a patch of solid ice today and could not believe it, please just slow down and take it easy folks.

                God Bless
                Bish.

TXDOT doesn't own the equipment to clear the roads.

Seems there could be a cooperative effort from other parts of the state or other states to bring in the equipment to clear snow and ice.

For some reason the ice melt stuff isn't feasible because if it rains first then it just washes away before it can do any good.

Never gonna make the drivers here do any better.

Good job. When you are urged to stay off the streets and you go out in it without it being a emergency .
                    You deserve to get stuck.

when a huge mass casualty overwhelms the local hospital's resources, most of the public thinks that when their loved one isn't taken care of in a timely fashion, or at all, that the dr and the hospital di a terrible job. this storm overwhelmed the resources by a huge facto. were the ptb to decide to spend several millions of dollars on equipment that would somewhat mitigate the discomfort every tenth year we suffer a similar storm, we would all b&m about the taxes it wastes.

I live off I20 and i think they did a decent job, I had to drive into Ft. Worth this morning and it wasnt so bad. Yeah there was ice on the roads but for the most part it was drivable. Now if the other drivers would learn to slow down and be careful then maybe some of the road ways wouldnt be clogged as bad as they were.

I have been in Ft Worth 6 years now and all but one winter we have needed plows and equipment to clear the roads. Granted this storm was the 2nd worst since I have been here. Super Bowl storm was the worst. I think they should invest in some equipment.

The overpasses are horrible still. My normal drive to and from work is no more then 45 mins. Took 1.5 hours to get there this morning and right at 2 hours to get home tonight.

I agree. My girlfriend left my house at 7:45 this evening in Burleson and STILL isnt home and she lives in Benbrook!!!!!!! She just called again and finally got off on 183. Says they have two trucks scraping I20 with about 10 police cars following behind lmao. Too little too late. 35 thru Burleson has been pretty much clear to drive since sat afternoon. Just the bridges iced over. Whoever is running Ft Worth is a idiot!!! Absolutely no sense in this.
