Parents of young hunters??? Help with box blind rest???

Are there any ideas or products to help with shooting out of a box blind? Some of you may have seen my live thread this weekend and my daughter was trying to get a buck.

She has hunted a ton with me and does great. She knows when to shoot and when not to.

Her problem is that she will only shoot when she feels rock solid with the shot and she almost never feels rock solid. How do I help her with this???

I thought about one of these but don't know how they would work in a box blind.

    Any ideas???

I have been thinking about the same problem. I think the contraption you posted above would be too bulky and a potential source of noise. I am thinking about building a U-shaped carpeted shelf inside the window to mimic a shooting range bench.

I bought that Field Pod and got it just last week. Got it for my kids. Braved the ice storm to try and get my daughter her first doe. 3 of us in a pop up and that Field Pod was no problem. IT IS ROCK SOLID! She has never shot at an animal and had a bad case of buck fever lol. Reccomend it 100%.

her first doe this past Saturday morning.

We use the field pod and it is awesome for my kids. Kinda cumbersome in a medium sized box blind and you will be limited to shooting one direction since its too big to move quietly. I have been in the blind with 3 different kids that have killed off the field pod in the last 3 weeks. I wish I would have bought one sooner.

BuckRage.... Shes a cute Kido.. Great job young lady..
Supporting the front of the gun steadies the crosshairs a good bit but without a back support it may still be a bit unsteady. Item looks good if you can fit it in the stand..

looks great. I would be worried about not being able to move it around. Like I mentioned 3 of us in a Rhino blind and we fit fine and I'm not a little dude! feeder was in front of us and this doe came out way over to our right. I moved it and got it set up no problem. The rest is history.

Get a 2x6, 2x8, 2x10 (whatever you have), wrap it in low berber carpet to make it a little softer and quiet, and then cut it to the right length to fit between your shooting window and the back wall. Assuming you have some horizontal boards inside the blind walls that it will rest on.... Don't nail it in. Leave it loose so you can move it around wherever you need it. Put a sand back on it, and then another bag or other benchrest-type rest for the front of the gun on the window sill. Just like a bench rest. Just make sure you have a chair that is the right height for your little shooter.

I thought of something like this also. The problem is we have two feeders and deer come to both. I guess we could hang the board out both widows.

Got pics of your blind? I didn't envision hanging it out a window. Just going across the blind inside is how I've done it before.

This is the only one I have. Lol.

We were moving the blind and this was taken mid tilt.

I'm set up on a hill top and one feeder is in the bottom of the hill and the other is even with the blind. The windows are same height and opposite of each other.

I don't know if this helps at all

We have always used a piece of 2x4 like shane described, but we don't attach it just rest it on the window frames. This allows it to be moved for shots from different windows.

I've always just laid an old towel or sweater over the window ledge. Twerpy does fine like this it seems.

I keep thinking about one of the Caldwell "Hunters Blind Bag". It is basically a beanbag that has flaps to lay over the window ledge, and provides a nice cradle.

It is cheap enough to just leave in the blind, and small enough to toss in your backpack if you want as well
