Converting Corn Barrel Feeder to Boss Buck Gravity Feeder

I have a few extra barrel corn feeders laying around that I want to convert to small gravity protein feeders. I want to use Boss Buck feed tubes. Does anyone have any experience with this? How would I connect the tube I purchase from Boss Buck to the bottom of the barrel?

If you go to www.bossbuck.com they have an accessory page under the products tab. At the bottom of that page you will see a 2" downspout that should allow you to mount their protein tubes to.

Did you purchase the funnel that goes with tube? If so it is fairly easy. Cut the bottom out of the barrel, leaving about a 1in lip. Slide the funnel in a silicon the heck out of it. That is how we did it, plus the funnel gives you an extra 50lbs of feed.

buy the funnel/down spout combo and cut the bottom of the barrell out - shove the funnel/dow spout down through the top of the barrel and then use silicone to seal it all off really well where the funnel meets up with the bottom of the barrell -

We had 3 done like this and never had a single problem with them other than deer emptying them in 5 days - if you are farther than a few miles away then I would go with a MUCH bigger capacity feeder than just a 55gallon barrell

Exactly what the last 2 guys said. You need to buy the Protein Feeder Lower Unit from Boss Buck.

As stated above^^^^!!! It's super easy, I've done 2 and they work great. Should come with instructions when you buy.

Very good info. Any probs with leaks around the silicone?

I know this is small capacity but it's just down the road from my house and is more or less an experiment to start feeding a little on this place.
