    Superglue on cuts

OK. I've been wanting to try this, but thankfully I haven't had the need...until today. I was working with a razor knife and slipped. High and to the inside of my thigh. Its borderline whether or not it needs a stitch or two so I just glued it. Worked like a champ.

Questions are do I have to reapply? How long will it last? Do I just let it wear off?

Thanks for the help...and finally glad I "MISSED".

When I use it I just let it wear off. I have never had to apply more than once but if it is in an area that flexes alot I could see having to do it more often.

It should last long enough to do the job!! I do it ALL the time!!!! It works on dogs too! Of course I clean all cuts first but then I super glue it if it needs it!

used it more than once on fingers and such, I would re-glue if the cut opened up. And it would just eventually wear away.

        Magic I guess..........

Yep. The only places I've ever had to reapply is on knuckles, etc.

Usually it will heal with one application.
I've been using super glue for small cuts for years.

I was going to try using it on this but mama said, "No, that is to the bone!"
So I settled for 10 staples.

I keep a tube in my first aid kit. I haven't had to use it yet. It holds fingers together really well!!!

I think that suturing wounds was the use for which the stuff was originally developed. For battlefield medics.

So, seriously - you can use superglue for holding a cut together and it's not poisoness or anything?

Yep... Cut myself pretty bad with a broadhead once... Superglue saved the day!

Now I don't leave home without it.

Oh man, I glanced at the thread title and thought it said Superglue on cats.

THAT might have made for an interesting thread.

I had heard of this before, but then I heard that it was really bad for you too.

This is good news for me. I almost always have something cut somewhere.

Super glue works well as long as you disinfect the wound. If you don't and seal up bacteria in there, it could abcess and get ugly real quick!
