I'm noticing signs of hog activity for the first time on our place out in Kempner(we've had the place for three years). There is some major rooting activity under a number of big oaks and in muddy areas. No pics yet of them coming to the feeder though. Do ya'll think it's a matter of time? Am I crazy for being happy about this? The way I see it - hunting season just got extended... :-)

Kill all ASAP!!! Gestation is 3 months, 3 weeks, 3 days, 3 minutes, and 3 seconds. In less than 4 months you can have a huge exponential problem. You may think this is good but when the turn your feeder over, trash watering holes, spread ddiseases, infect you with fleas, root up your fields, destroy fences, eat turkey eggs...shall I go on??? You will not want these.

We own a 400 acre farm in Angelina County, and although yes they are fun to hunt with dogs and be able to shoot them all year long, they have absolutely destroyed our pastures and have done a number on our young pine plantations. They did not show up at our place until 2000 or so. I wish we did not have them.

Kill them all. The last couple of years we thought of them as bonus. Deer didnt realy care about them being around. Now they have taken over our lease and there are no deer comming to our feeders at all. Two weeks ago I put out 250 lbs of corn. Hogs busted my feeders and ate all the corn in four days. Insaine. Once you get some big ones around, you better have some big tall steel feeders. Nothing else with hold up.
Of course that little pig I killed last week sure was good on the pit.Last edited by crawdaddct; 12-04-2013, 02:02 PM.
