This past Saturday my 5 year old little girl got her first deer a 126 lb doe. I believe she is a little spoiled after this hunt. It's fairly hard hunting in the tall palmetto swamp bottoms of my lease in La. I haven't seen more than 3 deer in a hunt all year but this past Saturday I was fixing to leave to sit a loc on in a flooded bottom but my little girl asked to go hunt so I changed plans and we went to a box stand. This is her first hunt and she has had limited practice shooting. We get to the stand and there's a doe on one of the lanes. We get in the stand and she watches it then eats a zebra cake, drinks her Capri sun, plays on the phone and colors. At 3 pm 4 does come out then 3 more for a total of 8. They browse on briars then make there way to 30 yards. I ask if she wants to try and shoot one and while hesitant finally agrees. After a lot of getting her set up and calming her down she fires on a large doe slightly quartering to. Looks like a hit but no blood to be found. I go get my catahoula a come back. After 50 yards tater finds her doe. Almost perfect quartering shot entered behind the shoulder and was stuck in the skin behind the last rib. Show with a crack barrel .243. Talk about a happy girl
