Auburn will be deserving if they thump Mizzou! As much as I don't care for the conference rah-rah crap. It's amazing what they and Mizzou have accomplished after last season! Mizzou has a pretty solid argument as well if they were to win the SEC title game, being that their lone loss came in double OT against USCe without Franklin...
Two bottom dwellers from last season playing for the SEC title. Fun stuff.
I heard this morning that they won 2 conference games between them last year.
I think Texas will be the best Defense they have seen this year. OSU is good, but turnovers made the game against Texas seem better than it was. I am guessing the final score around 35-24, Texas out front.
OSU and TCU defenses are hands down better than UT and certainly a tougher matchup for BU than UT. OSU's got the best defensive player in the conference in CB Justin Gilbert and the best pair of linebackers in the Big 12 in Lavey and Lewis...they were the key to beating the Bears. Recipe to beat Baylor is to have a solid DL to hold the LOS and two great LB's w/ tons of speed to stop the run and a shut down CB. OSU had that, TCU had it w/ Verrett and two speedy LB's. UT doesn't have the shutdown corner and because of injuries they have been decimated at LB...that could spell trouble.
On the season, Baylor's defense is allowing the fewest yards per carry in the conference and they have allowed the 2nd fewest rushing TD's. They have been fantastic against the run all season. Best way to beat them is through the air.
Gonna be a fun game...hope it's as fun as the last time UT came to Waco for a swan song (RG3's last game at Floyd Casey). Interesting note, Baylor also beat Texas in Grant Teaff's last game at Floyd Casey...I'm seeing a trend here
For whatever reason, the Bears offense is light years better at home. With Martin and Seastrunk back, things are looking up for the Bears ground game.
Pretty interesting stuff in Gary Patterson's presser after the game.
No kidding. I guess 4-8 seasons and a 6-12 conference record in two years of Big 12 play will do that to you.
Pretty emotional week for Briles last week after his brother died suddenly from a fall and subsequent head injury.
Very impressed, but not surprised, that Mack Brown and Case McCoy publicly offered his condolences to Briles and his family. I don't like Texas, but I respect them and certainly Mack. He is a class act and a winner.
Completely. They just aren't as good on the back end...which is where you have to be to make Baylor one-dimensional. Baylor's got a good OL even though they lost All-Conference LT Spencer Drango for the year the week prior to the OSU game. Key to beating Baylor is to be able to take away the run by having your DL occupy the OL and turning your LB's loose. If your 2nd level guys aren't good enough, Baylor's run game will explode and they are nearly impossible to defend when that happens.
TCU and OSU completely took away one side of the field through the air by putting Gilbert/Verrett on Goodley and then had awesome LB's who came up huge play after play.
I was in Stillwater for the game and I still have nightmare's about Lavey and Lewis...man those guys were all-world that night.
That's what will make it interesting. How much time Petty will have, because he doesn't look very good under pressure and if Santos and company have a game to remember.
Like I said in the beginning of this thread. I'm not buying a Texas upset, but I'm not sold on a mudhole and we have a kicker!
Lache Seastrunk hasn't gone off on anyone since West Virginia on 10/5 and he has only scored 3 TD's since then. He missed 2 games and played in just over 4.
Is Linwood hurt?
Martin chews up a little yardage, but nothing major.
Norwood is the scary guy... Especially the last 4 weeks.
