Planning a Hog Hunt... need advise on where to go

    All,

I went on a 2-day hog hunt at the Escondido Ranch out in Junction in October. Dad and I had a great time, beautiful ranch, lots of game, and we were very happy. Unfortunatly we didnt see any pigs (they were feeding at night and there was too much natural vegitation for them to eat).

I am planning another wekend hunt for Feb/March and wanted to get some input from the hunters on here. Obviously a return trip to Escondido is high on my list, but are there any other ranches out there that I need to consider?

First hand experience and/or recommendations please, no sales pitches.

I prefer somthing over 1000 acres and free range is preferable. Will be bowhunting (duh... is there any other way to hunt??)

    thanks!

Went to Escondito ranch many years ago. I saw one deer the whole time (3 day hunt) and killed 7 jack rabbits.

First of all, you're an Aggie, right?

Aren't there a lot of Aggies who farm? (Me: why, yes, I believe there are.)

Didn't you make friends with some of those guys while in school? (Me: why, yes, I'd bet he did.)

So ask a few of them if they're having a pig problem that you might be able to help them out with.

Hey, I'm just a teasip, but I had no problem finding a local Aggie who lets me on his property to shoot pigs just about anytime. I've posted many pics of pigs I've killed on his property on this forum. Just sayin'.....

Trophy ridge exotics in Moss Hill post Facebook pictures every weekend of successful hog hunts. Pretty cheap too. I think they stock the ranch with hogs. Not sure.
