    Hogs Charging a Ground Blind?

I am going hog hunting this weekend at ABC Ranch in San Saba. I've never been there before and I do not know how high his stands are set. I have never hunted from any type of elevated stand before, so I may end up hunting out of my ground blind. What are the chances of a hog charging me in my ground blind ?

No firearms are allowed, so I cannot bring my pistol for self-defense.

Should I have any safety concerns with that?

Never had it happen to me. I wouldn't worry about it.

      Negative, no worries.

9 out of 10 times the whole "charging hog" is not a matter of it charging you in the open, it just gets scared and picks the first path out of their and it just happens to be the path your in. Then people claim that they were attacked.

      or

You do the down right goofy, and try to slaughter a hog on a canned hunt in a 5X10 pen with a knife. (not to mention any names........but it rhymes with "Show biz"

you'll be fine. keep us posted on the hunt, i'm looking for a new place to go on a weekend hunt after deer season.

unless your groundblind looks like a pretty sow you have nothing to worry about.

I've heard a few cases of hogs running into ground blinds, but it's very rare and I wouldn't worry about it. Hogs can bust right through brush and they know it. On the very rare occasion when a hog runs into a ground blind, I don't think they're actually charging it. I think they just don't "see" it and are trying to make an escape through the "brush." A case of camo doing it's job.

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. The only time I ever got truly charged at by a hog was when I caught a tiny piglet and held it up by its back leg. It started sqealing, so it momma ran over to get me. As long as you don't do anything dumb like that then you are good.

I'd say you have 2 chances - slim and none!

But they are curious enough to investigate it. Had one come down wind and start sniffing mine, but I didn't want a hole in my blind.

Don't worry about it, you should do just fine from it.

If you click on this link then click on Day 4, you will see exactly how hogs react to our Double Bull blind, again, and again, and again. Make sure you watch the video on the bottom of the page.

Just pretend you're hunting them. The "reverse psychology" will keep them away.
