    Portable generator, size/output question

I'm looking to get a portable generator to power hand tools, etc at the lease. I know "more power is better", but realistically how much output will I need to run a Skil saw, drill, etc? Price point around $250 or so, used in good shape is ok.

In looking at the inverters that clip to a car battery, I haven't seen much detail as far as what all they had the power to run, those mainly talked about powering/charging electronic stuff.

Any and all info will be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Circular Saws are typically the "factor" when it comes to sizing the generator. Those things pull upwards of 15 Amps on spinup. My opinion is 2K generator is your minimum. A 3K will let you power lights and other tools at the same time.

Best investment I ever made was going cordless. I love my cordless drill, driver, circular saw, and reciprocating saw. It has made building stuff out at the lease more enjoyable. I can bring those with me and build anything just about anywhere out there. Investment was about $500 but worth it vs corded tools + generator.
