Daddy's Little Girl getting it done

My daughter has always had the love for the outdoors. Her first word wasn't Momma or Dadda it was "Deah" or deer. Mom wasn't too enthused when that happened but, now we joke about it often. She has always sat in the stand with me and wanted to shoot but I kept telling her she was too young. This year that response wasn't going to fly so we started shooting the pellet gun (which I think kicks more than the .223) and tried to schedule when she could come hunt.

Last weekend was the weekend for her but, with the colder weather we thought it would be better if we pushed it to this weekend. We had Thanksgiving lunch and then hopped in the truck and headed to the lease SW of Cross Plains. We got there in time for a Thursday evening hunt and didn't see much other than some yearlings. That was how the others hunts would go as well. Saturday evening I had made up my mind that the first deer that walked in was getting shot. I figured it would be a 3 point that always in right after the feeders spun. As I am watching play Mexican food drive through attendant taking orders at one window and giving food at the other I looked out another window to find the 8pt eating corn not paying us a bit of attention. I quickly told Briley to be quiet and come get in her chair that there is a deer I was going to let her shoot. She said is it a mommy deer or a daddy deer I told her its a daddy deer and she immediately started shaking. The deer was broadside and everything was ready then he turned facing, then broadside again, then butt to us. Finally he turned broadside one last time and stayed in that position long enough for a shot. By this time I am shaking like its a 200" deer and I am the shooter. We finally get it all together and she shoots. After that is when it gets real and her deer is laying on the ground. She starts jumping up and down giving me hugs so happy she has shot her dear. After we take some pictures and call momma we headed back to camp were she is on cloud nine.
