Question for Covert game camera owners

Thinking of getting a covert game camera for security in my back yard for security, but I have squirrels!!!

For those of you who actually own a Covert, will squirrels set them off? How about birds? I do not want to be getting multiple text pictures of the small animals in my yard.

I am hoping they will only be activated by larger animals/humans.

    Just "aim" the camera higher.

I'm going to mount it higher in a tree, aiming downward, so the perpetrator cannot steal it without a ladder.

Squirrels will set them off when the sensitivity setting is on "normal" by my experience.

I haven't had a bird set any of mine off yet.

You could probably adjust the sensitivity settings to keep a squirrel from triggering it.

Personally, if I were concerned about a home security situation a squirrel pic here and there would keep me on my toes rather than bother me...just don't point it at the bird feeder!

I've had crows and squirrels set mine off even on low sensitivity. Still a great camera though.

Thanks for the input. I live on several acres with no back fence with lots of squirrel and bird activity. I thought it would be a good idea to capture a picture of any intruders AND send me a text so I could alert the cops to catch them in the act. I may just have to go a different route and get a real security system.

I use one at the farm for the same reason....

I do no mind any of the text I get. Makes me wonder when I go not get test.

I have 3 coverts 2 in service and just bought another one.

Just post a sign with your handle in the front yard. Birds, squirrels etc will move out - and as far as people go, the mailman will even be afraid to stop. More powerful than a wolf mural in the back window off a pickup or tailgate.

If you are more concerned about activity after dark you can set the hours of operation to after dark only

One of these cellular coverts is definitely on my wish list. All the options it offers (such as hours off operation) is great. Would be great to have at the house during off season for reasons burnadell posted
