    Mattress one

My little girl is 3 and we decided to get her a big girl bed. My wife went to Mattress one and bought a nice full mattress and box spring. She paid 790 for the mattress. I went the next day and picked it up, I asked about a bed frame. My wife said we needed one. They didn't have one but could sell me one off the floor for 50 bucks. I said sure and left.

Got home, the frame that I got from them wouldn't work with our pottery barn conversion kit so I went to take it back. Real time, 2 hrs. I went to return it and was told they couldn't except returns on any floor model items. I asked the store manager to call whoever he needed to call because I didn't need the frame and would like my return. I was told that all retail stores are the same and asked why I bought it if I didn't need it. I was told that all sales are finial. The owner of the company said this. So for 50 dollar sale, they are gonna tell a customer that just spent 790 to go to hell and we don't care. I was bothered, but really more because of the principal and lack of reason.

The lesson.. Those of us that run our own companies empower your people. Put service first, treat your customers how you would like to be treated. Don't employ people that simply state policy.

If you work for some one else...Be the one to make it right. Stand up and use your mind. Fighting for your customer should build job security for you.

I'm done. So in short. DON'T GO TO MATTRESS ONE.

I don't know what it is about mattress retailers but that seems to be common at a lot of them. Very aggressive and obnoxious salespeople - you feel like you are on a used car lot. I guess they are not worried about repeat business since you may not buy another mattress for 10 years - they will hammer away and say whatever they have to until you buy or get mad enough to leave...

It's because if the markup. A lot of furniture places do the same thing. You should've taken back the mattress

I agree. Take back the mattress. There are lots of other places to spend your money for mattresses.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. I hear you about empowering your people if you own a business. Your recommendations are spot on. Don't know which mattress you got but Sleep Designs makes mattresses right there in Houston if you want to check them out.

FYI. No returns on the mattress. All sales are final. I have called the head quarters to speak with upper management. I expect no change because the owner was on the phone with the store manager. Just a poorly ran business.

Sorry for your experience, but whether you get your $$$ back or not, THANKS for this type of feedback. You've helped more people than you know.

WOW......for $790 you better have gotten one of the best full size sets they sell. I have not heard of Mattress One before this. Sorry you got taken like that but just another reason to deal with small "Mom and Pop" shops.

I would stop by Mattress One just to tell them about this and that's why you won't be shopping there.
