    Best Bobcat bait

There is a GINORMOUS Bobcat that lives behind where I work, I have always wanted a full body mount so I am gonna set up my ground blind so I can hunt it at lunch during the week. Best bait ideas? I thought about a dead chicken. I can call failry well on a rabbit or rodent call, but what do you think? Will "cats" eat carion?

Get a pet rabbit and keep it's cage near your blind at lunch.

When I was at Keith John's a few weeks ago, he told me he sees bobcats feeding at their carcass pile all the time. He said you have to be ready to shoot because they streak in, grab a bite and take off.

Their pelts are HORRID this time of year though! Id try to wait for winter to get here before I shot him. He aint gonna leave if you see him there alot he is living close by! Try using a small mouse squeeker call or some sort of mouth predator call and call him to you!

I would have to agree with maglite. If you want to get a bobcat with your bow, just set up a ground blind near a gut pile or carcus that has already been processed. The bobcats will clame the carcus in a few days, garding it and feeding on it periodically throughout the day and night.

High noon in the Texas summer is a very very very low percentage attempt on a bobcat.

If you are that determined to try, then:

Set your popup up during lunch and set a ground stake where you want your kill zone..

Get yourself a rooster and band/wire a clip to his leg.

Go into work early (At least an hour before sunrise) and clip the rooster to your stake and get in your popup.

You just increased your bobcat whacking odds by about 10,000%. Repeat as necessary. He WILL check it out.

Bobcat urine is the only way I have ever done it when I trap them....

I would try to hang a couple dead birds in different trees

Caught my interest. Thought I would check this out

Honestly, if you know he's there and you can just watch his schedule then you won't need bait. He'll show up on his rounds. Easy...maybe to easy.

Boomerang, do you have any other photos of that same cat?

Just play his game. He will do the same thing on a routine unless you educate him.
