A little help with unfamiliar area

I have been invited to hunt (this weekend) some private land (2000 ac)near Utopia. This property does not get very much hunting pressure. It does have a few stands in place with feeders, but that is not my thing. I know NOTHING about this part of the country. Does anyone have any insight on deer habits out there? What do they feed on besides acorns this time of year, do they typically bed in the cedars, what kind (if any) rutting activity should be present right now? I am bringing some loc-ons and sticks. ANY help would appreciated.

I used to hunt in utopia. Typically the rut is anywhere between weekend before thanks giving to the first couple of weeks in December. If it were me going out there now I would have my rattling anlers in hand and get up where i can see a large area and try rattling and glassing. If the place has some of the large hills the deer would be moving low to high in the mornings and opposite in the evenings. Good luck. If you are driving into town after dark this weekend be careful with the brigtht moon there can be a lot of deer on the road between Sabinal and Utopia.
