Having a CHL and Police background check

Let me start by saying I'm thinking it makes no differense but what the hek it don't hurt to ask.

I currently have my CHL and am considering make a career change to law enforcement and wondering if having a CHL would help speed up the process in the background check. I was told a job fair today, it takes about 6-8 weeks for the background check, providing you pass the initial interview phase and the initial fitness test.

Like I said I'm thinking it will make no difference. But just thought to ask. Feel free to PM if you don't want to answer publically. Thank you.

The background check for law enforcement involves a lot more than running a criminal history that takes a few seconds.

Speaking from experience let anybody current or not in your life know what your are doing. I.E. my ex-wife got a call from such and such police department wanting to ask questions about me...Lets just say had an interesting call from her later that day!! LOL Answer to originals question NO!!!

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but does anyone know if having a CHL shows up on a general background check? (not a detailed one for leos)

Thanks for the input guys. Funny you should mention x-wife, I haven't talked to mine since the day we got divorced back in 03, only the good Lord knows where she's at.

Guys, dont' worry about hi-jacking, hek it's probably info I could use to.

I'm really not to worried about the background check, I just completed my re-complition info form my military clearence, and boy am I glad I kept all that infom, I"m sure some will be different, but I'm sure alot of the basic info will transfer.
