    Question about a traffic ticket?

Those dirty, good-for-nothing, low-down LEO's are always picking on ME! This morning I got stopped on the way to school and the cop gave me a ticket for going 5 over when I was really going 13 over. Is this enough to get my ticket dismissed?

Lol, I kid, I kid. I've gotten one ticket before almost two years ago. I did defensive driving for it. As I am looking at the one I received this morning I see an option for Deferred Disposition and another for Mandatory Driving Safety Course.

From what I can tell, they both serve the same purpose of not getting points on your license, but for Deferred Disposition you basically pay an extra hundred bucks and you don't have to take defensive driving... Am I missing anything?

That's about it and agree not to get another moving violation in a specified amount of time.

Defensive driving should always be the first option if it is available. Deferred may seem easier as you dont have to take the class but you get another ticket in a simple speed trap or anything like that and they both go on your record.

I went almost 6 years with no tickets and then got 2 in a 30 day period when I was on the road a lot. Took DD and deferred the other and matched every speed limit sign I saw for 90 days.

When you defer it you have to provide a copy of your driving record from DPS. You also cant get a moving violation for 1 year. If you do then both go on your record.

That is EXACTLY what I am doing right now. I was hauling butt to make it to the ranch in time to get in my stand and got popped. Now I pucker if i catch myself just a few miles over the limit.

Take the defensive driving. A word if advice, plan accordingly n leave a little earlier next time.

Courts discretion on amount of time. I just deferred a ticket and only was on "probation" for 30 days.

I don't think they are picking on you rather than you just can't slow down, well you could but don't.

Just do the defensive driving, its your best option if you haven't done it in last year.

The odd part is I was actually about 30 minutes early. Just in one of those spots where everyone drives about 20 over. I shouldn't have been, though.

I think this one said for 90, so I was wondering about that.

This was my initial thought, but then I thought what if I get a ticket somewhere that doesn't have Deferred, then I can't take Defensive Driving either. My preference is to do Defensive Driving though because it's cheaper.

Why? He just admitted his guilt. No need to give cash to a lawyer who will drag it out and still get the same disposition he is offered now. To the OP, if you are guilty, man up and chose your method of dealing with it.

Ya, giving it to a lawyer wasn't even a thought. Just trying to make sure I've got all my bases covered

You read it right. Pay extra to avoid spending time in class.
