    Three days with my Dad

Get off shift in the morning. Headed to the camp near Liberty to meet my Dad in the duck blind for a couple hours. Then go sit a deer stand the rest of the day. Same schedule for three days unless I have a really good deer patterned on camera in the mornings or they are rutting hard. Ducks have been moving into the woods since they got flooded and my Dad saw a big buck the other day. Described him and sounds exactly like the deer "Double Deuce" I hunted for the last two years but never got a shot at but I think this must be one of his sons as he was only 4.5 years and DD must be 7.5 by now. So "Son of Deuce" is on the hit list along with a few more. Not great service down there and will be spending time with the old man so no updates until I get back. Wish me luck and good hunting.

Huge surprise. Left work at 7am to meet my Dad in the Duck blind. Get there walk to the blind and open the door and there is my younger brother and my Dad. He drove in from Georgia, Army Medic, the day before to surprise me and come to my daughters baptism. Haven't hunted with him in a couple years. They already had 5 wood ducks and we didn't fire another shot that morning but it was fine with me. Sitting in the blind with them for a couple hours talking and laughing will be a hunt I remember forever. That afternoon we sat in the deer stands. Put my brother in one of mine and he is literally one of the luckiest guys, always kills something, with very little hunting time. Shoots a very nice 10 point. I have an 8 come out late and watched for a while. Drew my bow and he caught movement and jumped off the trail. Oh well not a monster anyway.

Day 2. Hunted a different duck blind, a cypress swamp, reminds me of the Dagobah with Yoda in StarWars. Killed 7 Wood ducks. My first duck of the year a banded hen. Banded in Marquette Michigan only 2 months ago. Hit the stands again in the afternoon. Same eight came out but had rifle and just didn't care to shoot him with it. He and two does walked around my tree for an hour eating hand corn.

Day 3. Split up. Dad and brother went to a third blind and I hunted a flooded clearing. They got 6 wood ducks and I got 2 greenheads and 3 wood ducks.

Great times and food and lots of laughs with them. Won't forget this one. Packed up and left to go see my kids and had the Baptism on Sunday. Awesome week for sure, and I made sure to thank God for it.

Will post some pics when I get a chance.
