The WEIRDEST thing a whitetail can do!

Well guys, this may seem like a made up story but if I wouldn't have witnessed it with my own eyes, I too wouldn't believe it.

Well this weekend I was not able to hunt Mexico because my grandma got sick and she had to spend the weekend in the Hospital and was finally released on Sunday afternoon.
This morning around 12:30am I get a phone call from my dad telling me that we have to get to the lease in Mexico cause my uncle along with his 2 sons, broke down at the ranch and all the other lease members were already gone.
So my dad picks me up and after gasing up, we head straight into Mexico at 1:00am (I do not recommend this to ANYONE). We leave Nuevo Laredo towards the lease and we arrive at 3:30am. After some small talk we decided to sleep out there and head back early in the morning.
We head out at first light and arrive at the Columbia Bridge at around 8:15am and there was already a line forming. As we slowly work our way up the line towards the Customs Inspection, we were amazed to see a mature buck (7 point) on the wrong side of the fence inside the Import Lot. He is working his way up and down the fence looking for a way to get out of there. He tried a couple of times to jump over the fence but the fence was too high for him. He even tried to ram his way through the fence a couple of time but was unsuccessful. The buck trotted up and down the fence desperately seeking a way out. We though for sure he would go back the way he came from and find the way he came in and leave just the same. Unfortunately he never went back the way he came and passing semi trucks just fueled his panic. On his last attempt to jump the fence, he was unsuccessful and kept running heading towards traffic but hugged the fence and was now running on pavement going into Mexico. He got about 50 yards down the bridge and decided to jump over the railing. Now I do not know what happened to this deer but I do know he took a leap of faith approximatly 30 feet into the ground below. Not sure if he survived the fall but I know he is going to feel that in the morning.

Sorry for the long post, just thought I'd share one crazy morning.

I saw something similar once. I watched a doe run across an overpass and jump off the edge. Unfortunately when I pulled over to look at her she had landed in a ditch and apparently died instantly. Sad thing to see.
