    Grunt calls?

How many of y'all use a grunt call. What do y'all use a buck grunt doe bleat? Do y'all have any luck with them? How often do y'all use it in a sit.

I just use a couple of times when it's slow. I usually test it once or twice when deer I don't want to shoot hang around a long time. Once they don't react or get scared from the grunt I know I'm not hurting anything by using it.

Also test it on bucks that walk away to see if I can draw them back in.

IMO rattling works better but that has to be used in a very short window during the year.

When is the best time for rattling? Pre rut, peak of the rut, or post rut.

Sometimes I doe bleet and buck grunt a couple times each real early when nothing is aroundd, often times a buck comes buy later "looking".

If I see a buck and grunt about half the time he comes in closer.

Less is more for the grunt. I had an 8 point that was chasing this past weekend though and he didn't even think twice when I grunted at him. As far as a doe bleat, I have never had a deer come to it. Also, I have used it when I already had deer in view to see how they react. Needless to say, my doe bleat is in the trash.

Thanks guys. In the blind right now. Grunted a couple times earlier nothing yet. I did see a couple young bucks a few days ago and grunted at them and got there attention but they never came into range. Hopefully I can get one of these guys to respond tonight.

So based off of your experience a plain ol buck grunt would be better than a bleat

Twice in the last few years we have had a buck running past the stand and disappear. At that point figured nothing to lose and used the buck grunt. Both times the buck came back looking and both times we got a good shot on them.

I have not ever had one just show up from a grunt personally.

On another note I was hunting this last weekend and it was still dark in the morning. I heard a bunch of noise and some grunting under the stand and around the stand. I thought there might be a pig but we don't see pigs there. It came just light enough and there were two doe and a large buck chasing the doe around. That was the first time I actually heard a buck grunt close up and personal. They left before it was shooting time.

They make the "exterminator" grunt tube. I've had amazing luck with that lately getting bucks into shooting range. For a buck grunt, I like the primos uproar. It has a grunt, the estrous bleat, and a snort tube. I've never had the doe bleat work, so I don't use that part. I've snorted at bucks and had them come on a line as well. I use the exterminator tube for the doe grunt. If they have a group of does they are checking out, I can most of the time hit they and they will come to me. I've also had buck grunts work. Typically, and I say typically, from what I've seen, most bucks are smart enough that if you grunt at them, they will circle around down wind and come to you, which is hard to get away with. I've seen a lot of times if you snort at them, they will come in on a line. But I only have luck with this stuff when I have eyes on what I'm calling. Rattling works best for bringing something in blindly.
