    Fairfield deer rutting or around

Does anybody know if the deer are still rutting there or around there. I plan on leaving Thursday and heading that way. When I left last weekend they were.

I hunted Franklin opening weekend, and deer were in the rut. and a buddy of mine called me this morning and said they are still rutting big time.

The rut is on in Fairfield. Been out every weekend since the bow season opener and have watched the deer behavior change a little every week. This weekend should be a great weekend to hunt in the Fairfield area.

I'd say if anything the actual rut is just starting in that area. It was the younguns THINKING its the rut as of last weekend.

Not saying it was "peak of the rut" last weekend, probably this weekend will be pretty close, but we saw a lot of older, bigger bucks trolling throughout the day all weekend, saw 2 upper 130 bucks already with doe and they would not leave em. Several younger bucks still fighting and jacking around, but the bucks are moving and a lot are already with doe. 4 of us have been hunting the same tract of land since first of October and we all saw several bucks this past weekend that we hadnt seen before. I had what would have been a mid 140" 8pt come trolling thru, but he had broke off his right brow and right g2, so he got a pass. Gonna be a great weekend to hunt coming up...

Older bucks were out here at the plant pushing does on sat am and sun am. I know deer movement here is inelastic but the big boys only come out during the rut time frame.

I hope your right because we have not seen any off the big deer showing them selves yet.

It's weird at my place south of fairfield. The small bucks aren't acting at all like rutting but have seen three good bucks in the last few days and they are locked on does. Have seen several does with no bucks around as well. I'm kinda stumped

Been about the same thing we have been seeing. Some big bucks are stuck with doe's some arent and same with the younger bucks. Some bucks are still fighting and being aggressive and some arent. I had two mature 135" bucks parked under a feeder at the same time for 40 minutes Saturday and they acted like best buddies, so it is still kinda strange where we are at too. I think it is going to be a great weekend coming up..

That is weird, Brandon. Exact opposite at our place.

I have hunted every weekend since bow season in Fairfield, past weekend saw a lot of young bucks chasing does. This upcoming weekend should be pretty good IMO. Plenty of water down their right now.
