    Doe Urine Question?

    Question:
Say you are using doe estrus urine in an area you have some trail cams does it signal the buck if the buck comes in to urine and after a few days of not finding the exact doe, does this educate the buck to leave the area cause he can't find that exact doe? cause that doe is in Franks Pen?

I had a friend just tell me this info. Im shaking my head going Say what?? Thought Id check with the professionals on here. He said he has never heard of using doe urine if you are not in the stand that it educates the buck and he no longer will come in, especially a mature buck.

Good question. I guess I'm going to find out. Used Franks last weekend and had a buck came in the same trail as I did. The only thing was he stop at my blind. No way to get turned around for shot. he stood there for a long time before moving on. I plan on using it again tomorrow except I am going to come in from the front of the blind. Right down my shooting lane.

      My opinion:

Even though this doe pee came from many miles away, he still believes that she came from his area because that is where he is picking up her scent. And although he has smelled her, and he can't find her, and I think that would encourage him to look rather than say screw it I dont know where she is.

Just because a doe pees somewhere doesn't mean she is going to stay there.

You spray pee during hunt. See nothing. Freshen up a scrape after the hunt. Not the buck thinks a doe came by next time he checks his scraps. He will now hopefully continue to check this scrape hoping he can catch her passing through again.

I use a drag rag with the scent on it. It is on a piece of string that I loop over my long bow tip and I drag it along on my way to the stand the bow length away from my tracks. I drag it out to in front of my stand where I will have a shot. Then I spray a little shot on a low bush for him to smell. This has worked for me well.

On him figuring it out, I don't think they have the ability to reason that out. They are thinking with the other head.

What do you do with your drag rag once you get to your blind?

I have been noticing that the does seem to always go on alert when they catch the "franks doe estrus" scent. twice they have blown and took off. the bucks dont seem to mind it, but i would like to keep the does around for live bait the bucks are clearly chasing as each doe I have seen has had an admirer. any suggestiond?

You put it out in front of your stand at a good spot for you to shoot

Whats the best time of day to do a drag rag?

In the early morning on the way in to the stand or afternoon on your way in? or Both?

During the rut is the time to do it and it can be done anytime of day because the bucks are cruising for does

I have also seen that quite a bit, I guess it is a girl thing, they are trying to figure out which one ifs the "hooch"? I wouldn't worry about it too much as long as the busks are interested. Those does may not be coming in heat yet or are just concerned about the activity that the scent will bring.
