    Labrador Kennels

I am in the market for a duck dog. I would like to start with a puppy and needed some advice on what dog kennels you might recommend around the state. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide.

I bought a pup from this Kennel out of Howdy in 2000. Mary Tatum was great to deal with and my dog was a great retriever. She's retired now laying on the floor next to the bed.

Mary Tatum, DVM, has been breeding elite Labrador and Golden Retrievers since 1975. Watermark Retrievers received the AKC Breeder of the Year award for performance labrador retrievers in 2015 and is based out of Houston, TX.

Go to the RTF to all retriever related info. Here's a link to the puppy classifieds over there.

Id find someone with hunting dogs and buy from them not so much of a kennel. I have a buddy with dogs with great pedigrees he has built. Master hunters etc. My BIL has 2 dogs that are bred hunters that run circles around the others when they are in the field.

I know where 4 chocolate puppys are now that were born yesterday 4 already spoken for.

There are several good ones not too far from the Houston area. My trainer is over in Winnie. There's also some out towards the Austin area. Most trainers have knowledge of available puppies or can help you in your search. I know my guy had a yellow male left when I was there last Saturday.

I would look into the retriever academy in Miami, Oklahoma. Bought mine there she is a great dog. Or Besr Retrievers in Central Texas.

Glenda and her daughter, Juli, are awesome people and tremendous trainers. Very well respected nationally. This is a litter sired by Usher and he is one of the most incredible dogs I have been around.

                    They are located in Brownwood.

Angie and Tim Becker of Tioga Retrievers trained my lab. They also have some great bloodlines and a littany of Master Hunters. They are based out of Aubrey, TX near Ray Roberts. www.tiogaretrievers.com

We got our last one from The Retriever Academy. She has been a great dog for us. Derek has a great set up with some incredible training grounds. He told us what to expect from our pup and he was right on the money. He is a heck of a trainer with a great track record.

Several of the other mentioned kennels also produce some nice dogs.

I wish I had time to train one but being in the Army I don't have the time to devote to training so I'm looking to find a finished dog if anybody has a lead on one. I'll even consider one that is retired that wants to hunt every so often.

Glenda Mitchell with Kanati Kennels helped me find a dog in March of this year. Nothing but great things to say about Glenda and all her dogs I've seen.

Rody Best, Best Retrievers. I have met Rody many times while running my dogs in hunt trials and his demeanor around dogs is, well, the Best. His dogs love him, too.

Just google Best Retrievers and his site will come up.
