So I am thinking about doing my own processing this year, and a thought popped into my head.
In the past, when I have taken a deer in for processing, the tag stays with the deer, and does so for certain period of time I am guessing...?, but many of the guys I hunt with choose to take the head when they drop of their buck, so who keeps the tag? I would assume the hunter, at what point is he allowed to dispose of the tag?
Ultimately my question is this, if I choose to do the processing myself, at what point, within the law, am I allowed to remove the tag from the animal and dispose of the head, unless obviously I shoot one worthy of a mount.
