    Moultrie Feeder Problem?

I have a one year old Moultrie Feeder.

I noticed when hunting last week that the spinner was going off really slow like a low battery. But I knew I had changed it out a few months back and they usually last quite a while longer than that.

This weekend it never went off.

After hunting I opened it up. The display says 50% battery life.
I ran a test spin and nothing happened.

I spun the spinner its not in a bind or froze up.

Since the battery seemed week the week before I am hoping its just a battery. But would it quit working all together at 50% being displayed?

Has anyone else had this problem?

I bought a new battery but now I will not know till I make the trip back up there. If its something else I wished I knew so I could get what need before the trip.

I had a similar problem with my feeder. Noticed no corn on the ground. Display said 100% battery. Tried to test it and nothing. I had another battery in the truck swapped them out and it worked fine.

A new battery should fix it. The battery life indicator isn't very accurate.

I had the same problem last month except my display was showing 100%. I did the test and no corn was being thrown, until I manually gave the spinner a little help and it would then spin. My problem was the motor and I replaced it with a spare one, works fine now.

Probably the battery. I don't think mine has ever shown below 75%. Lol

Yes sir! It is the battery. The % never has worked on the motors. Its either 100% or 50% when its getting bad. However, they are good motors and don't eat batteries.
In fact my buddy just had the same thing happen with both feeders. I looked at the battery and the date is 2012. "thats not a typo" The date was 2012. And he just bought them 2 weeks prior.
Always look at the battery's date. And you can go as far as to carry a little cheap volt meter to check them. I personally did this and the volt range is different on every one. Copper top 6v battery is nothing more then 4 D cell batteries inside. Crack one open and you will see.
There is another brand that has a bunch of AA batteries in their 6v battery.

I found out the copper top 6v being 4 D batteries a couple years back. Was using an old one for weight on a rope that I was trying to get over a limb to hang a feeder on. Battery hit a rock and broke open and was shocked to see inside the housing was 4 D batteries.
I agree on being a battery. Mine will read 100% for a dang year and then 75% which is when I change them out. Have seen them die not much after showing 75% on the moultries. Just changed mine out yesterday, they showed 75% 2 weeks ago after showing 100% for a year.

Could also be a loose connection at the motor. I like to redo all the crimps and connections.

I had this prob on a WGI, it would struggle to throw and show good battery. Changed the battery and motor and still didn't fix it. Watch the digital unit, when mine would kick on the motor the unit would go hay wire. Had to replace the digital unit and now it's still going strong over a year later.
