    Smoke testing in progress....

Due to recent events, I've decided to conduct some of my own testing to see if wood smoked clothes will help cover up my scent. I have been busted several times this year. No dear have seen me, just smelled me as far as I can tell. Just now, I burned a few very small cedar limbs and held my camo pants, vest, shirt, and hat over the smoke. I obviously got enough smoke on them cause when I walked past my wife, she wrinkled her nose at me. Tomorrow morning, I will be in my tripod, 31 yards from my feeder. Stay tuned?

Nice, I'm interested to see results. I bet it works fine, plenty of stories backing it up. Where are the clothes right now?

The clothes are all wrapped up in a ball on top of the plastic storage container in the office.

Just smoked all of my gear with a beehive smoker a couple hours ago.

Then I put them in a big plastic tub and blew smoke in there and filled it up.

Ill be in the stand in about 8 hours.

            Good luck to u sir

Ok, just got in my tripod. The room I was keeping my clothes in last night was smokey smelling this morning when I went in to go dressed. Not overly so, but I think it will definatley hide my "stinky" human smell. Here goes.

Years ago I read that deer will actually come to a fire/smell of smoke. I was freezing my butt off one time in Michigan so I built a fire in the snow to warm up. The third deer that came towards it was the buck that I shot.

Didn't shoot one, but had 8-9 deer within 15-40 yards all around me. Had a quick opportunity at a 4 point, but hesitated too long and he walked out of the shooting lane. Overall, it was more productive. I think I will incorporate this into my hunting.

I didn't see any deer, but I suspect the evening hunt will be better. My deer are coming into feed at dusk.

                          Nice subtle smoke smell

Actually, the wood (cedar) that I burned, wouldn't fill up my size 9 boot. But thanks. Lol
