    Want to STOP hunting?

If you want to curtail your hunting, get into the hunting industry. Since my good friend and I purchased GameTamers, my hunting has been reduced to a couple of hunts a year. With our upcoming show schedule, I'll be on the road for eight weeks straight. We both thought "hey, this will be great, we'll get to hunt all the time". Not true. However, we do get to hear great stories, work with some great people, just not what I envisioned.

Hopefully in a few years this will take off beyond belief and we will finally get to hunt more. I'm newly engaged, children's sports, coaching softball, their is just not enough time for hunting anymore. I have a free hunt to Alaska for bear and Caribou, just cannot make the time.

I do frequent here, I love the pictures and stories, keeps me motivated. Now if I could only get my fiance to get the urge to hunt!

I understand your travel schedule as mine is the same. Just keep your head up and look for the light at the end of the tunnel.

Might have to work a gametamer trade for some softball gear in the future.

I understand completely. I work on a hunting/fishing ranch. Dream job right? I'm gonna spend every hour after work hunting or fishing...yeah right. Work's over after 70 plus hours I wanna go home, I've enough fun watching other people hunt, cleaning their game, and processing their game.

Hey Ben, If you ever find yourself in my neck of the woods during a season just holler, I'll send directions to my campfire. I even have a stand with your name on it.

Same way with owning an archery shop and thinking you will be able to shoot your bow all the time and hunt a lot, right!. Your bow shooting will suffer and your hunting will suffer even more. I feel your pain.

I'm not in the hunting industry, but I have the same challenge. I have a completely flexible schedule, as I am the boss - which means that I must always be available.

I find that if I let it happen, I will work 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. I try to schedule time off as far in advance as possible, and then don't waiver. This includes time for hunting and fishing and family time.

A good example was my Argentina trip in February. It was booked, scheduled, and a deposit was paid for about 6 months in advance. I booked it before I had time to think about it, because I knew it wouldn't happen otherwise.

As February approached, I started thinking of the things I could accomplish, money that I was spending, money that could be made, etc. I started waffling about going on the trip at all. I came within inches of calling it off.

In the end, I didn't let myself cancel. I told my staff they would have to live for a week without being able to contact me.

Argentina was the trip of a lifetime, and my office was still there and kicking when I got back. I had to put in a lot of weekends before and after, but it was worth every minute.

Ben, I know how it is about being busy and just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day, but I will help you out and just point me in the direction of that bear hunt. I need to get out and hang that stand I got from you. Want to stick some hogs.....

We sure do appreciate your sacrifice- Gametamers are the BEST stands anywhere, in my opinion! You sure do make hunting a lot easier and more comfortable for the rest of us. Thanks!

I had a long conversation with Toxey Haas of Mossy Oak a while back. I told him that my dream was to have a job the hunting industry. He asked me if I liked to hunt. Of course I told him I loved to hunt. His exact words to me were then don't make it your job.

See what happens when you make your passion your job. It turns into just that...a job. I am glad everything is moving up for yourself and your company, and that will pay long term rewards for sure!!

I feel your pain Ben!! Even though I manage a hunting ranch, I also manage the schedule and I make room for the wife and I to go AWAY from the ranch on hunts. It also helps having great owners that also hunt and know the importance of getting out every so often. I have to or I go crazy!! There are times that there is no choice but to skip a hunt that I want to go on because hunters are the first priority and they sometimes too rule the schedule. Cool either way!! Love it!!
