2001 F-150 Help. water leak into cab

I need some input on my leak on an F-150

It is leaking in the back along the top.

1st ford dealership ran the VIN and said there is no gasket/o-ring around the 3rd brake light assembly. I would have to remove and reseal the entire back glass.

2nd dealership says it has a gasket/o-ring and the whole light assembly would have to be replaced. Problem is that I don't see any remnants of a gasket or an o-ring in there. I know they go bad over time but not just disappear without a trace.

Anybody have this particular year model and trouble? Any Ford guys or service guys know? I'm not gonna order a part and then have a leak still. Or redo the seal and still have a leak because of a gasket

    Its the 3rd Brake light.

Just pull yours and use a sealant. Had the same issue on an 04 but there was a recall for it. Local dealership told me that if it had not been under warranty or recalled they would recommend the sealant.

Was told that they didn't use a gasket on the 2001. They did on the 2004.

      Who knows

I believe there was a gasket but not much of one on the bottom side of the light housing.

I think they added a separate gasket to my 04. It fixed the issue.

I had the same problem on my '99 F-150. I ran a healthy bead of RTV sealant all the way around the back glass and pulled the brake light and ran a good bead around it too. Fixed the leak.

If the 3rd brake light was not part of the trim then I would lean towards the gasket/o-ring being bad..but since its part of the trim around the window I don't know
