Each year we have an increase in thefts during this time of year (Sept to Mar).
I have posted this in the past
But to protect your property there are a few things you can do and they will also help the LEOs.
If an item has a serial number record it, with value and a picture on a cd.
Get a cheap engraver and engrave your initials under a grip, barrel forearm or stock. Put it somewhere it cannot be seen on your bows or guns.
On your cameras put your name or an Identifying number on the front face, etch it deep.
Put an identifying mark or number on your gear, 4 wheelers, jeeps anything.
Record these items along with the identifiers and put the cd, stick or what ever you use up and add to or take away as needed.
On vehicles etch a small plate of thin plastic and drop it in the window channel
Do not leave weapons in plain sight in your vehicle cover them up.
I was an investigator for a while (10 plus) and most people did not have a clue to what the serial numbers were. All they could tell me was Its a 22 Savage.
I did some work on a tractor and used liquid steel 10 years ago, my thumb print is still there.
Please add to with any thing that you use to identify your gear. just remember it needs to be non removable and in a place you know and can ID and recorded.
Do whatever it takes. Do not give your only copy to the LEOs make one and you keep the original. The popo do lose things. I lost a pen in 1985 I think.
