I run rotella 15/40. Four gallons of oil and a filter are going to run you around $75 or so for a DIY job.

My dad runs Amsoil in his catapiller pusher.
                  I ran rottella T5
I thought that 6.7 power stroke was pretty specific on what should be ran

If it is under warranty, I would just have the dealer do it. I understand it may not be the best oil out there, but they can never fault you for using theirs. Plus, a big selling point to better oil for me is longer intervals, which I see causing a warranty issue as well. I will be using Amsoil or Royal Purple after the warranty.

I run Rotella 15/40 and change it around every 10K. I also use Wix filters. My 5.9 uses 3 gallons and a quart. I got 245K on it.

I run amsoil in my 06 Duramax and get about 10,000 per oil change. Got almost 300,000 still going strong. Have used delo and some others in the past but seems it doesnt run as smooth after 5-7,000 miles on an oil change imo.
