    Question for all Snakelovers?

This is for "Snakelover" and any other knowledgeable snake lovers:
What is the smallest snake you have ever seen or handled? I caught the smallest I have ever seen yesterday at the ranch. It is no more than 2" long and smaller around than the diameter of pencil lead. Looks about like a millipede, only a little longer. I really can't identify it because it is too small. If I was to guess I'd say it was a Rough Earth Snake, but I didn't know they lived out here in the Hill Country.

He was caught up in an old cobweb and has some stuff still on 'em. It's so small I don't know how to get it off.

    Pictures to come later.

The Rough Earth Snake and the Dekay's Snake (Brown Snake) are the smallest I've ever caught. Honestly, I don't know which of the two I've caught smaller specimens of, but they're both very small. They only get a few inches long as adults, so the young of both are very small, probably starting off around the size you described.

I just positively identified it as a Texas Blind Snake. I rare find I think!
Anybody ever find one of those?

Cool find! I've never actually caught one, but I should have thought of that from your description. You might need a macro lens to photograph!

If that is what it is, that is a very cool find!

Never seen one in the wild.

Yes, I have caught several. Not very rare, except above ground. If you find one when your not actually looking for one that is an exceptional find.

Here are some pics. Not the best quality, but its as good as I can do. Still learning the whole photography thing.
The bobbypin is 2" long, so that puts him at about 3".

You can still see the cobwebs stuck to his head.

Those are definitly blind snake.....I had a female when I was a kid for years and the first year I had her she had babies........I think at that point I had over 150 of them......They make great pets, but need the dirt to live in........I fed them flies......
