    Gas burner problem.

I picked up a disc cooker from Glen last week (thanks Glen) and I've been using it almost every day. Prior to this I had not used my propane burner very often. My problem is the flame is very orange and puts out alot of soot. It doesn't seem to matter where I set the air control, the flame really doesn't change. Any suggestions?

Might be spider webs or dirt dobbber nest in the tube leading to the burner.

Glad you are enjoying it. Ive had same peoblem with mine and actually changed the actual burner out to a larger one with more gas output holes. To fix yours take the actual burner apart and make sure no rust or other obstructions.

Also check to make sure your air intake is not closed off. Thats the damper on the burner where the orfis is that you can turn to open or close. This shuld be adjusted until you get the right air, fuel, mix to make the flame burn blue.

Spider webs, dirt or the air intake adjustment, it generally has a set screw and rotates opening/closing the size - that's about it.

I appreciate the help guys. I will take it apart and blow it out with compressed air.

There is no build up at the damper, but maybe there is an obstruction further in that can't be seen.

            I'll post the outcome.

Run you a piece of coat hanger wire through each of the burner holes and where the air flow valve is. That fixed mine when it was doing the same thing.

Well I took my burner apart and cleaned it out with compressed air. It had spider webs and rust build-up. It is now working 100% better, the flame changes when you move the air damper and it is no longer putting out a bunch of soot.

But, after seeing the one Dale bought and the one Slacker put together I now have added a burner to my wish list. Looks like theirs would really produce.

Thanks to everyone for all the help.
