In need of a new laptop and am seriously considering an apple product. Not really sure which is what but the wife is self employed and will use it for business. We both have iphone 5's and aren't gonna switch to a different phone. What's y'all's experience with the apple laptops? I hear they're difficult to learn but that's it, if so I don't see what'd be so bad...?

Not difficult to learn. If you have an iPhone, you've already got the gist of apple products since most of them operate the same way in some form or fashion. So the word is not difficult, it's different (compared to windows). You'll love it so much, you'll spend enough time on it to figure it all out in no time. I'll never own anything other than a Mac. Once you learn all the little tricks, it's super efficient at browsing. Plus you'll be able to sync you're phone with everything on your Mac. I also believe that if you do not have your Mac with you, but someone else has one and you need to get something off of yours, you can log into your account from theirs and get anything you need from your Mac.
