WTH!?!? Where did the deer go...

Haven't seen a deer on camera in week now . We had 4-5 does coming in daily and a decent buck on occasion. Haven't had a pic of them in over a week. Anyone else experienced this? I just think its odd they were coming in daily, but now, not at all...

Do you have lots of oak trees on your lease?

I've gone for 1000 pics a week to 40. We have a killer crop of acorns this year and they started dropping 2 weeks ago.

That is why the deer are not at your feeders. They don't have to travel to eat. It happens every year we have a good acorn crop.

New food sources so patterns change. Time to get in the woods and off the feeder.

They are just laying under the oak trees and getting an easy meal. And with all of the rain they don't have to travel far to find water.

well we do have quite a few oaks but have never seen this since we have had cameras out, 6-7 years now. We usually don't go more than 2 days without seeing at least one doe. It may just be there's a great crop of acorns this year, not sure. I was kind of baffled when I went through the pics and not one deer. Thanks guys I feel a little better. I was hoping to keep the does around for rut to bring in the bucks.

This is the third bad year in a row. Acorns, green and a 25% dieoff during the drought. The rains have been at the wrong time the last few years.

I will buy into the huge acorn crop Billy, but not a 30% die off, especially in the hill country....

2011 dude. TPWD talked about it and there were many threads on here. Around that time we went through the worst 2 year drought in AUSTIN history. Look at Lake Travis to this day. Not this years fawn crop. They are in great shape. A lack of 2.5 year old deer is what you will see. They are a big number of the decent deer that usually live at feeders. Older deer only frequent feeders if they are really hungry.

My territorial bucks are still around, but my does went missing. I know they're around, I can hear their calls.

                          Hunt the white oaks.

Same here (bosque county). Had one nice buck coming every day 2-4 times a day. Since the 18th. Not one deer.
