Lampasas Co Hunting/Rut Report

I'm hunting a ranch just outside of Lometa for the first time this year so figured I could get some insight from all you who have a history in this county.

Bucks are split up and had a member last weekend see a buck hot on a doe. I tickled the horns and had a couple young bucks come in quick. Seems like it's the early stages of the rut. Lots of rainfall so everything is really green. Any mature bucks caught on trail cams have been at night. Ready for some cool weather.

I'm new to the Lometa area this year also. Have seen a lot of little bucks at the feeders. Bigger deer at night. Ever once in a while I see a big deer moving during the day light( late morning). But I'm not see any rut, or pre rut yet. If it gets cold and cloudy it will turn quick. Good Luck, Paul

Im looking for some red peeps!! Everyone seems to have blue for some reason.
Ide also like to know about the rut action in lometa. Thats good news if your already seeing some action. Cant wait!!

Anything new from the Lampasas/Lometa crowd? Still seeing some chasing but seems like mostly young bucks. Haven't seen the older crowd up and moving just yet.

just left lamp this weekend. And the rut has not started yet. Maybe a couple of weeks from now.
