Yea, it's just a pig but its my first East Texas (Cass County) bow kill. The story is what makes it so exciting!! Hunted this morning and saw nothing. Began checking my cameras and see lots of Doe have been showing up, except when I'm there of course. Knowing my brother was coming to hunt hogs tomorrow I decided to check his camera on a feeder that's had nothing but pigs. As I walked in not paying any attention carting only my notebook laptop, I hear leaves rustling. I stop dead in my tracks 15 yards from feeder and it now sounds like the brush is alive with all the noise. Then snorts and grunts and squeals!!!! As I stand frozen a 60 pound sow walks under feeder the rest of the herd sounds like they are at 10 yards through the brush to my left. I slowly back out of site then tuck the notebook like a football and do my best impersonation of Adrian Petterson through the pine trees back to the truck. Grab my release and bow and begin a quick walk back to feeder. Before I even get close I can hear pigs everywhere!! I notice three easing through the pines in my direction. First one passes and no shot, second same results, as the third began to pass she turned towards me and passed inside 10 yards. There I stand, no face paint, mask, my bald head covered only by Mosquitos, I draw and stick her just behind the shoulder!! Knocked another arrow and kept moving to feeder, pigs all over but never offered a shot. I didn't want to ruin my brothers hunt tomorrow and spook them so I backed out and retrieved my perfect little sow!! Maybe tomorrow those doe will come out at my feeder!!
