    Pre-rut/Rut North Texas counties

Anybody seen any signs or know when usually the rut kicks in for the north Texas counties? Such as Wichita, clay, archer, young, wilbargar,Baylor or any of the counties around there.

    Rut

Hunt in Baylor County; The rut typically kicks off close to Thanksgiving and runs through the first week in December. Usually hard rutting activity for two solid weeks.

Whats nice about those counties is the grain fields that dot so much of the area. As the cold temps and freezes hit in early December the hunting can be just as good the last week of the season. Big bucks hitting food sources hard. Usually a lot of broken up antlers. good luck

NW corner of Throckmorton Co. usually see heavy chasing start the week of Thanksgiving and bucks respond well to rattling the week before that and on through December.

Right around Thanksgiving in Wichita County. Our lease has a modest deer population, but if you time it just right, deer sightings can be phenomenal.

I have a couple of places out west, one in Wilbarger and one in Foard, I have noticed that the rut usually peaks around the 17 of November, we also see some of the best action around mid December. Last weekend I saw two differnet bucks chasing a doe, both were mature, to be honest we see rutting activity going on from the first of November to the end of the season, probably because we have a bunch of deer.
