Have you had real success using a bleat call?

Not calling in does or little guys but actually calling in mature buck(s) with a bleat/can call? Let's hear about it! What time of year? How often did/do you use it? In conjunction with a grunt? Etc.

I've got a complete set of the Primos Cans... Only thing I've found them useful for is in the evening when my hunt is over, I use them to run the deer away so I can get out of my stand unseen by the deer...

I called a mature buck with a can once. It was around Thanksgiving in Lampasas Co. Only time it ever worked.

I've had success with the can on multiple occasions during the rut. Buck to doe ratio has to be close for the best results...Just like a lot of the calls or rattling, if there are plenty of ladies around, no need to fuss...

Never had any luck with them. In fact the only time I see deer is when I don't use them.

My dad and I were hunting together three years ago during the beginning of November. I shot a aoudad ram, with my dad's rifle, and around 45 mins later a huge mature buck walked out. My dad then got his rifle back from me and went to shoot the buck.... "Click". The buck ran off and my dad worked the bolt again, I guess I short stroked his 30.06 after I shot my ram. I reached into my pack and grabbed my call and gave him the doe bleat. The buck cam back out and my dad worked the trigger again...."CLICK"..... Again my dad worked the bolt after 2 attempts that didn't work. The buck ran off like a scalded ape and was not looking back. My dad then realized that there were only 2 rounds in the gun, the one I shot the ram with and the one that was short stroked. The second time he squeezed the trigger was on an empty charmer. He then began to cuss and yell as he reached into his pack and threw another round directly into the chamber. I was blowing the doe in heat bleat,I didn't think it would work. I guess just to make my dad feel better since it was kinda my fault since I short strokes the rifle. The buck came trotting back AGAIN and my dad was able to send a round right through his heart. He ran about 8 yards and piled up. It was an awesome hunt and the first time I ever used any type of grunt / bleat call. I just wish I had a camera with me to record the while ordeal. Sorry for the long read but I think they work sometimes but are not a catch all for bringing them in.

I do to and matter of fact I grunted a buck in with it yesterday afternoon! Also grunted in my opening day buck last season! But mine was all skill.






Wow, about the Can replies. Not looking like I should bother with it. I use to use one years ago but never had luck with it and gave it up. Figured I was just not using it right or something but maybe it wasn't me.
