Im putting in a 10' wide driveway to access my side lot, how long of a culvert should I use at transition to the road? I'll be using a 18" poly culvert. Im thinking 16-20 feet, what are yalls thoughts. Thanks.

20 feet to be on the safe side. Are you using 18" ads smooth wall? I say twenty in case you use trailers and need the radius. -
I say 20' as well. You will not get the full 20' out of it as the dirt will be tapered off at the sides of the drive.Comment

Do you need to worry about permits for putting a culvert in a public drain ditch. Sometimes engineers have to get involved to make sure you aren't constricting the water flow to much also. I've had to rip out one in the past that was to small.Comment

In our County a permit is a must as well as an inspection. Here you also have to concrete the ends with beveled 3:1 slopes. I know every county is different. Another thing to think about is how wide the roadway is that you will be exiting on to and how close the fence across that road is, this may or may not allow you to ''swing wide'' to enter/exit and will definately dictate pipe length..Just my .02.Comment

If the county is involved they will tell you the least you can install 30 to 40 feet if its just cars and p/u longer for trailers.Comment

When I called my county commissioner about my culver he said this.
Get all the stuff and we will install to our standards.
So I got 40 foot of culvert the size he wanted and the amount of road base he requested.
Glas mine was easy.Comment
