I have, with success, stopped a deer that is moving along a trail by letting out a verbal bleating sound. Sounds corny, but I learned it a long time ago watching hunting shows.
Now this may sounds stupid, but as I was still hunting the lease a while back, as I was walking down the trail, I could hear some rustling in the bushes 20 yards ahead of me. I knocked an arrow and as I was clipping my release, I could tell whatever it was was about to cross the trail in front of me. I drew and as I did I saw a nice sized hog cross in front of me. I drew and as I did it just kept walking as I followed it with my pin waiting for it to maybe stop. My mind froze and I could not think of a sound to make to try and get it to stop. Do I grunt, squeal, what?
What do you guys/gals do to get them to stop?
