    I'm VERY disappointed....

This was going to be my first chance to get in the stand and hunt in over two years this weekend. Some of you may remember me posting about my health struggles that have kept me sidelined. Well I drive to our family land this evening before dark just to check things out before I climb into the stand tomorrow morning. I only have one ladder stand set up over a nice trail on our small 100 acre piece of heaven. What do I find? A stand in a completely dead tree with dead limbs hanging all over it and so much tree debris that I couldn't even climb the ladder, much less get a shot off. I doubt it would have been safe to even try it. I haven't been out here for a long time (we have other family members that maintain it who live here). To top it off, I see a bunch of deer driving in and fresh tracks all up and down the trail. So instead of hunting this weekend, I get to work tomorrow trying to take down this stand and finding a new location. This was my little honey hole. I know it is not ideal trying to move stands in the middle of deer season, but I don't have a choice and these deer out here don't seem to mind. If there was someplace close that sold tree stands, I'd just go buy a new one which would be a lot easier and faster. However, we don't have anyplace around here that sells them. Man this stinks.

Got a place to hunt from the ground right there and hide up in a bush off the trail or somewhere else along that trail or behind A tree-line?

North wind tomorrow..play the wind and make you a ground blind. Hand corn and just sit.

Well just focus on the positive -you have a little piece of heaven. Many don't. No chance of driving to a Wally world and getting a cheap pop-up ? I know it must have been tempting to climb up there but way too use your nogan. You will live to hunt another day glad your health is letting you get back out there be careful.

Unfortunately, this is not a great place to try and hunt from the ground. If I had more time, I could probably brush something in that would work, but don't think I could do it in the morning and be ready to hunt without causing too much of a stir.

I have a orginal game tamer and a set of 3 piece ladders in Forney that you can use for the season as Im not useing a tree stand this year. If we can figure out how to get them to you, as Im not headed east till next weekend.

You are right. I have a lot to be thankful for. I am very blessed. I think I was just too excited and set myself up for a big let down.

I really appreciate that offer Jp. I'll just consider this weekend a wash and put this climbing stand up somewhere else. I'll give it a go again next weekend. That was very kind of you to offer.

I move stands, cameras, etc all the time during season. Don't sweat it, it won't bother em any.

If anything happens and you cant make your stand work, you are more than welcome to mine. Also I will be headed to Linden/Avinger area next Friday, around noon, and could possible get it to you then or spend a couple hours helping you get a setup going.

Wow, again, thank you! There are so many unbelievable people like you on here. This is just an extraordinary community of people.

I'm sure I'll get it going, but your offer to help is really touching.

Consider yourself lucky that you didn't climb in a half rotten tree and then have the bottom fall out. At least the whole thing was dead.

Moving a stand mid season is not a big deal. Just do it at a time when they are bedded down. Good luck!

No problem. We here need to help our brothers and sisters who have been sick or have had other health problems to keep doing what we all love to do.
