    Finally saw deer

Well I decided I'd get up early and head to the blind. I wasn't sure about hunting a full moon but I figured I won't know if I don't go. The moon was so bright I had to shade my eyes getting to my blind. At about 0715 I had 3 doe come in but with the cloud cover it was dark. What little wind was moving started swirling I guess because they backed out. One doe stayed and checked the wind for what seemed like forever. I ranged her at 30 yards but she was quartering to me and there was some tall grass and a small mesquite that were in the way. She finally blew and trotted into the brush.

I've shot two turkey so far this season but hadn't seen any deer yet this year and only saw one all last year so I'm greatful. Right after they left we had a small shower come through so I'm hopeful they'll come back!

Ha, no I'm hunting in Eastland County. My normal turkey came out but nothing else moved while I was there (had to bug out about 0930). I had to fill my feeder and I pulled my camera card. Turns out I had deer there when I was walking in and then I guess they came back. Either way, I was happy.

                    Welcome to hunting Eastland county.

I've sat many a season, and not seen a shooter. Been hunting between Cisco and Cross Plains since I was a little kid.

At least you have turkey, they exited our place in the late 80's and now only occasionally show up. It was a big deal when my daughter and I saw a hen back in the spring. That was the first one we'd seen in about 5 years.

You'll hunt a bunch of long hard hours to get a shot out there. There are some decent bucks in the area, they are just really elusive. I always expect them to go nearly nocturnal once rifle season begins.
