I hear ya, double check, double check and dont get in a hurry. I lost those concepts last year when I was in a 'hurry" using my miter saw, caught the backside of my thumb....luckily I still have it but still dont have full motion at knuckle.

                  As somebody who hurts himself
                  occasionally I can sympathize. I
stuck a broad head in my hand
                  a couple of weeks ago.

Been there done that. Shot a 3" finish nail through my thumb (it went all the way through and into the trip I was nailing up) and also shot a 3 1/2" ringshank fencing nail though my knee cap and into my femur. Couldn't bend my leg. Doc pulled it with a pair of pliers.

OUCH!!! At least it missed the bone, I guess. Had a tetanus shot lately?

OUCH!! My Dad did something very similar when I was in high school, except he nailed his pointer, middle and ring finger together!! That does look painful!

My buddy nailed his FIL hand to a header with a framing gun. Had to use vice grips to get him down.

                            I remember that thread!

Your not alone Jerp, someof us still get in a hurry. Even us safety guys.

"Slow down, boy" he'd say, "double and triple check you have everything set up properly before firing that thing up!" That advice, apparently includes checking to make sure you have the right size brads in the nailer. I could have sworn it was loaded with 1/2". Instead, it was loaded with 1 1/2" which was long enough to go through both pieces I was holding, into the pad on the end my left index finger, and out through the center of the fingernail on the other side. It hurt. A lot. Now have a finger still throbbing 12 hours later and swollen up like a sausage. You are never to old to heed your old man's advice!
Sorry, and thanks for the reminder. I did have to lol a bit. Been there done that.

That is definitely sig line worthy!

Jerp - if it makes you feel any better, I've run a screw through my hand more than once. I feel dumb when it happens, and start to weep as I put the drill into reverse to back the screw out.

I get a tetanus shot every 2-3 years, for just such an occasion.
