I don't rilfe hunt much, but I have to put one up on the lease. Between the corn and protein prices my wife will have a fit if I spend much more money on anything. Any suggestions on an elevated blind that wont break the bank.

Also, if you can find a shipping container for a large item the floors of those make a good floor for a stand.

i have a double texas hunter box blind. i use it in crane and its cool. havent got to use it in the winter yet as i got it not too long ago. it can fit 4 people and a camera very confortably. i think they run around 1000 which isnt bad considering the size. it would be about the same to build one as nice as it is. good luck with it whichever you choose to do.

Build your own.
1. Go to a lumber yard (a real lumber yard, not Home Depot or Lowes) and see if they'll sell you damaged sheet goods and twisted or bowed lumber at a discount. They almost always will.
2. Contact a local business that receives equipment/parts in wooden crates. Ask if they'll save you a big one or several small ones you can salvage the lumber & plywood off of. It would be a good start. Years ago that's how my dad would get his duck blinds.Last edited by cj7zrcool; 05-21-2008, 02:53 PM.

"Build your own"
I'm not going to plug my company or try to sell you a treestand, but as a treestand manufacturer and member of the TMA, I'd like to add some input.
"If" you do make your own, you should really think about getting some experienced help from design to construction.
Over 75% of treestand accidents happen from home-built treestands.
Be careful.Last edited by BuckAssassin; 05-21-2008, 07:22 PM.
