I've heard good reviews about the vortex binos. If you can scrape together a little more the Nikon monarchs are hard to beat. They are IMO the best bang for the buck!

Second best bang for the buck...in that price range vortex talon and viper HD win

Upgrade to the highest quality (set) you can painfully stand $$$

Good binoculars are worth the investment long term. Once you use good glass you can never go back.

I sold my Nikon Monarchs and bought Vortex. No comparison IMO.

Congrats. Vortex has a great reputation. We just bought the Nikon Pro Staff for my father in law. These are a great option also.
