My dads friend is going on a guided Nilgai hunt this weekend. None of us have ever been on a guided hunt like that. Sounds like it is only a one day hunt. My question is what would be the customary amount of tip he should pay the guide? Should he be tipping anybody else? Thanks for help.

I guide for a living but I also, occasionally, go on a trip and let someone else guide me. My rule of thumb is the same as a restaurant. 10% for decent service. 15%-20% for great-exceptional service. Guides are just like waiters. They do all the work but get VERY little of the profit from your hunt. If they work hard for you, they deserve to be well compensated.
Enjoy your hunt!
Remember. "Tipping is not a city in China!"
