    How to catch a Bobcat?

Something is killing pets around my house and I'm pretty sure it's a Bobcat. So far it's gotten a small dog and 3 cats. My wife was outside this morning and she said she heard it catch something else. She said she had never heard such a terrible noise. I assume it got one of the neighbor's cats. Is there any way for me to get rid of this thing? I have a hog trap but will a cat go in one for meat or something? I've never tried to get rid of a Bobcat before so I don't have a clue where to start.

Yes. Cats aren't nearly as weary as a coyote. Live chicken is good bait.

Sacrifice a chicken for the well being of all.

Have you tried calling it? It sounds like it would probably come right out and you could get a shot on him.

I have not tried that, don't have a call. My son was at his feeder behind the house a couple of weeks ago and said a big Bobcat came running toward him and at the last second I guess realized what he was and darted off. I bet that's what is killing everything.

I thought about putting a chicken in the trap but I didn't know if the cat would go in the trap or just reach through the wire and kill the chicken and drag it through.

I would call, or you can get some feathers, hand them up in a tree about 2-3 foot off the ground then put a snap trap on the side it would approach tree from a few inches off center of the feather. He will come to check the movement and the snap trap will get him. Put it in a place you can see from a ways so you don't sent it up all the time checking it.

either tie a chicken to a tree and wait or,

put a cat or kitten in a cage in a field "meow, meow, meow, meow......" that might work and sit and wait.

I made a trap in high school that worked like a charm. Basically had a trip door then I on the back side of the trap I wired a chicken wire trap to the bobcat trap. Put food and water in for the chicken and I would come and check the trap every couple of days. Covered it heavily in the brush. It worked very well. I caught close to 10 in a 3 or 4 month period, all in the same area.

Calling it and shooting it is your best bet since you have pets and neighbors. Traps are going to risk catching a pet. Either borrow an e-caller or try staking out some bait animal. Calling would be more effective, though, I think. Cats are stupid and not terribly hard to call. If it has figured out you're a free meal, it'll be hanging around. If you decide to call, try to use a sound that's one of the animals its already taken from your property.
                    Good luck!

You think it will come to calling in daylight?

I wouldn't either if it hadn't screwed up and ate a wiener dog.

I would use a trap placing a live kitchen inside, if he already killed some birds he`ll come back for an easy meal that`s for sure
