how do i go about buying a deer?

i wanna buy a fawn. my girlfreind wants one and i wanna see how big i can grow the thing. so how to i go about buying a baby deer? and what permits do i need? i know some of you guys know since you buy deer. and it doesnt have to be a whitetail. an axis or fallow would be cool to. anyone know how to do it?

I don't think you need a permit for an exotic. Just find someone who wants to sell one......... Whitetail, gotta have the papers... (I'm pretty sure)

LMAO... yeah, I'd say there's a good chance you'll find some way to buy a deer with that!!

Not sure where you are T8, there are a couple guys around my house that sell fallow deer though.

I think exotic breeders are faily common these days.

                      T8,

As a licensed breeder in Texas, my advice is to stick to the exotics. DO NOT try and obtain or buy a whitetail deer without the proper permits, inspections, certifications and fees. TPWD will come down on you very hard. They have no tolerance for violation of these laws.

Better yet, buy her a puppy instead.... :-)

What STGS said....buy her a puppy instead.

Ya'll REALLY don't want a fawn. It sure as heck ain't like raising a puppy...it will grow into a DEER pretty soon. What are you going to do with it then? You can't, well dang sure shouldn't, keep it in a small pen. It will need room...and protection from dogs, cars, poachers, hunters. etc. Ya ready for all that???

                        Get a puppy.....

troy, who's raised dozens of fawns(state rehabber)

                          T8,

                          My 2 cents.

                          Measure twice. Cut once.

That may sound like a great idea right now....especially if your in luuuuuuv and want to impress her, but the novelty will likely wear off and that deer may well turn into your albatross.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

                          Regards - E

Contact Kifaru Exotic auction in Lampasas and ask when their next bottle babies sale will be. Get an axis, fallow or sika fawn and raise till BBQ age. ET
