    Hang-on shooting position

I've traditionally shot out of a pop-up but this year decided to hang a few stands. Have to say, I really like the elavated position. Having said that, I've now had 2 deer bust me just as I as attempted to draw down. Obviously, I'm making too much movement. My question is, do you typically take the shot in a hang-on standing on the platform or sitting down?

For me, drawing back in the seated position seems very awkward, since I'm used to my feet being perpendicur to the target (i.e. that's how I shoot out of a seated ground blind).

    Any advice?

As always, appreciated alll the insight.

Practice while sitting. I prefer to shoot from a standing position but if the deer comes in while I'm sitting then that's the position I'll draw from.

      Practice shooting while sitting down...

Face your stand so that your most likely shot(s) are in front of you, and off your left shoulder. I prefer to be standing, with my bow drawn, when they step into my shooting lane. Of course, it doesn't always work that way, and I've shot dozens of deer while sitting.

Yeah....I've got to start practising sitting with my feet in front. The other thing I was thinking about was easing into a standing position just before it's primetime.

I like to offset my stand on the backside of the tree so I face my primary shooting lane with the tree slightly in front of me, never directly in front or to the side. this helps break my outline and hide my draw sometimes. I also try not to draw on a nervous animal or one the it completely broadside. most of the time they will present an opportunity to draw slightly quartering away, then you can wait for them to square up or take them in that position if you wish. I also try to be no less than 17' up if at all possible, stand as much as possible and glass as much as possible.
